The style of movement, inspiration behind the choreography, message of the dance, etc.           The contemporary duet was inspired by looking at my own life and recognizing all people that have grown with me so rapidly over the last five years. I have been navigating the complicated emotion of nostalgia, and this dance feels very much like a slow, quiet, and thoughtful conversation. How do you personally prepare for your rehearsals? Do you choreograph on the spot or come with material prepared? What is your process like?           I come to rehearsal with ideas, but nothing is rigid. Meet Brittany Osborn          Brittany Osborn is a fourth year Dance major. The title of her piece is One. Learn more about Brittany and her piece below! Can you give us a brief description of your dance? The style of movement, inspiration behind the choreography, message of the dance, etc.           My piece is more modern based. I got the inspiration for my piece from all of last year. I would be visiting home and my parents would have the news on and it would be one bad event after another and the reaction I had to it was why is this happening and what can I do. So I made my piece about how I believe this generation can change the tragic events and make them less of a norm. How do you personally prepare for your rehearsals? Do you choreograph on the spot or come with material prepared? What is your process like?           My rehearsals before unplugged I would come with all the material and just teach it. Meet Choreographer Ayla Jakes         Ayla Jakes is a fifth year Dance and Pre-Physical Therapy major. The title of her piece is Alchemy . Learn more about Ayla and her piece below! Can you give us a brief description of your dance? The style of movement, inspiration behind the choreography, message of the dance, etc.         Alchemy's movement quality is very fluid and symbolic in its approach. The message behind the dance is that good qualities reside in all of us, therefore through being confident in individual capabilities, while also forming relationships, we become connected and supported through empathy. How do you personally prepare for your rehearsals? Do you choreograph on the spot or come with material prepared? What is your process like?         I typically come to rehearsal with plenty of material prepared for the piece.
